it's been only months since I posted anything here, but the truth is I don't often think of deviantart anymore. I will probably use this page as an archive of sorts but I don't plan on being particularly active anytime soon.
It's nostalgic to look back on everything. In all honesty, I miss DA, TRON, and Withering Dark and I want to remember them. I'm disappointed In Somnia never took off (I mean, it still could...right? maybe...?). I want to keep all my old art in one place, as cringeworthy as it may be.
but I'm much more active on tumblr. DA/TRON friends, you know who you are, can pm me for my personal blog (I miss you guys, btw).

hello again

I basically forgot about dA for a solid year. this is fine.
well, hello again. I actually haven't drawn too much in the year that I was gone (that's why I don't have a 2014 art summary [shrug]), so there was nothing really to post anyway. I didn't draw anything for a solid four months, too.
but now I'm here/back (sort of). I cleaned up stuff, added new stuff. perhaps I'll have more stuff to post this summer, or maybe I wont. right now art is a "go with the flow" thing.
for lack of a better ending to this journal, here is an obligatory reminder to play etrian odyssey. we just got a mystery dungeon crossover, and the remake of the second one comes out in august. get hype !!!

11 Reasons to Play Etrian Odyssey

So the Etrian Odyssey series is one of my favorite series ever, and seeing as not a lot of people know about it (relatively) and its so good, here you go:
11 reasons why you (yes you) should play the Etrian Odyssey series
11. replay value
play these games over and over. After you beat the game you can start over but keep all your money and your stuff. You could carry over your maps. You could carry over your team. You could start from scratch. You could only keep your items. Wow.
10. The fandom is rlly nice and very calm
it's a really tiny fandom relatively which is surprising bc it's 1) a super good game and 2) made by Atlus, which is no small company (think shin megami tensei series). But its size is nice, there are very few fights or ship wars or anything
9. It's a modern retro
The etrian series is a 1st person dungeon crawler rpg. PLUS PUZZLE-ness. It doesn't get much better than than.
8. MAP MAP MAP + difficulty appeal
in this game, you draw our own map w the touchscreen. None of this wimpy drawing the map for you. And if you draw the map wrong, you're probs dead.
Its a nice challenge, in addition to all the F.O.E.s (fearsome overland entities) who could totally kill you without a sweat if you dont get some exp on you. This is a great challenge game (yes, there are different difficulties)
7. great games at an actually rlly good price
alright so if you know anything about video games, usually the really good stuff is sold at the wonderful price of $39.99. Well I have news for you. The original trilogy goes for an average of ~$27...
And yes, etrian odysseys for the 3ds are ~$39.99 on the estore, but they literally go on sale all the time. Sale price? An average of $20. You cant beat that for quality games like these. DEMOS ON THE ESTORE TOO!!
6. Fantastic story
The backstory of Etrian odyssey is featured pretty much in all the games. I dont want to spoil a ton, but I'll tell you this:
It takes place in post-post-apocalyptic world. Humans of the past discovered they'd trashed the environment beyond repair, and to save it, they created a giant tree to absorb the pollution and save the earth. And you'll find out what happened...
Depending on the game you pick up, you'll start in Etria, High Lagaard, Armoroad, or Tharsis. These cities all have a mystery- they need someone to solve the labyrinth and find the secret of the tree ( Obviously, it's been forgotten what the tree was for). This is where you start your adventure.
Odyssey Untold features an ACTUAL story (I'll talk more about ACTUAL later) with premade characters, and a new story-specific dungeon. I can tell you this story is fantastically beautiful and wonderful and thoughtful and just play the game ok its great
and dont even get me started on mythological references

IT MAKES YOU FEEL SMALL
IT MAKES YOU FEEL SMALL IN THIS HUGE LAND OF WONDER AND THAT'S WHAT A GOOD DUNGEON CRAWLING RPG IS SUPPOSED TO DO
3. Customize-ablity
YOU GET TO CREATE YOUR OWN TEAM
Thats right people your very own team of however many you want. Five can be in your party at one time. Theres like 20 different character classes and like 10 are available in each game. Theres two guy portraits and two girl portraits for each class. THATS 40+ (alt colors too) CHARACTERS TO PICK FROM AND YOU GET TO NAME THEM WHATEVER YOU WANT, CUSTOMIZE THEIR SKILL TREE, EVEN SUBCLASS/ADD SKILLS FROM DIFFERENT CLASSES OR EVEN FROM MONSTERS.
HECK YEAH
2. ACTUAL HEADCANON STORY
ALRIGHT SO THIS IS THE BEST PART
We all know what a headcanon is. Basically you take some canon facts or maybe none at all and just say "this happened bc i said so" and it makes things personalized almost and makes you feel closer to whatever character or game/movie/story/tv show/ET CETERA that is is.
Well etrian odyssey is special bc there is no story. You pretty much get to MAKE IT UP!!
Unless you're playing story mode on untold (and even then), you have your own guild you've named and your own characters and a personalized map. From there, Etrian has a loose story that drives along the conflict, and event tiles with specific events, but you get to decide everything in between. How your characters react. Why they do what they do. All of that. And guess what. ALL YOUR HEADCANON IS PRETTY MUCH CANON. Have fun.
1. absolutely. No I mean it. I'm not kidding. The best OST. EVER.
The original trilogy is FM synth, but IV and Untold have full orchestral soundtracks. Untold is the remastered EOI soundtrack with some extra songs.
